Current
No wind turbines in the Beetz forest
Protecting nature, biodiversity and drinking water in the Beetz area.
Why PRO-Umwelt supports the initiative
The initiative “Keine Windräder im Wald Beetz”, represented by spokesperson Kerstin Borchert and fellow campaigners, is in line with the goals of PRO-Umwelt e.V. Oberhavel: preserving and improving quality of life in the region and critically accompanying emission-control permitting procedures.
The approved five wind turbines in a forest, drinking-water protection area and sensitive habitat raise substantial questions. The initiative also points to protected bird species and the proximity to SANA clinic facilities, including sleep-lab rooms.

Wind farm Beetz: information status
Five turbines
According to the current information, five instead of the originally planned seven wind turbines are to be built.
Interventions and compensation
Access areas and road construction were reduced, species-protection assessments updated, and compensation for forest impacts recalculated.
Impacts
From the initiative’s point of view, the permit describes an unfavourable location where noise, shadow flicker and species protection can only be managed through extensive shutdowns.
What is planned?
- Legal review of the permit
- Review of further legal steps
- Talks with affected companies and institutions
- Information events for residents and companies
- Networking with other active groups
- Collecting donations for further measures
